We’ve have been awarded partial funding for a Women in Drones program for 2018 from the Women’s Fund of Oneida-Herkimer Counties.   Our intent is to grow a group of area women drone ambassadors for our community who can kick-start interest from an under-represented group in our region – girls.  Our proposal involves choosing ambassadors who can encourage exploration of drones in STEM with own girls, their employee’s children, the community at large.  We are aware that change will not be immediate, but it will slowly make a noticeable difference in girls attendance to our programs as well as in local camps and college programs.  Our current list of potential ambassador candidates has reached nearly 3 dozen.  We’ve revised our initial outline to make use of available funds while still providing an informative, inspiring program.  More information will be available this fall as we gather our list of participants.  We anticipate presenting a 2-3 hour single evening program with open-ended access to our mentors for follow-up.
