CNY Drones works together with the U.S. Drone Soccer Association & school districts to inspire students to pursue education and careers in aviation & aerospace technology through a robust build, code & fly program connected nationally through competition.

CNY Drones directs District II from Utica, NY. District II covers both New York & New Jersey. District II is home to the largest cohort of drone soccer teams and programs: 30+ active teams and 60+ programs. CNY Drones remains part of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) as a Model Aviation Student Club.

District II Growth

Although other Districts & States are catching up fast, New York leads the way with the greatest number of U.S. Drone Soccer teams! Thanks to great educators, team support just keeps growing!

On September 30, 2025, our friends at GST BOCES & Spencer-VanEtten CSD presented on their incredible Drone Soccer League to NYS Superintendents. GST BOCES oversees the largest contingent of U.S. Drone Soccer teams in District II with 14 schools and counting!

History of Drone Soccer in New York State

In 2022, we started with a (District) Championship Showcase and one arena in Wildcat Field House on the SUNY Poly campus.

As interest continues to grow, so does our footprint.

U.S. Drone Soccer can easily be set up as a small classroom, enrichment or intramural program. In the center of New York State, based out of SUNY Polytechnic Institute, CNY Drones is your support system, helping both educators & non-profits grow their programs & teams! We offer both virtual (FREE) & on-site technical support (BY QUOTE) for products from the originators of U.S. Drone Soccer, Drone Sports, Inc. Our volunteer staff is the most experienced & knowledgeable group of drone soccer technologists in the Country. We have all versions of products at our fingertips so we can work directly with educators at their convenience.

AMA Youth Membership Requirement

As of 2025-2026, proof of membership (AMA #) is required for students participating in District Championship & the U.S. Drone Soccer National Championship.
$20 per student through the AMA (as of Spring 2026)

NEW!!! U.S. Drone Soccer Association District Championship Event Registration

All District II teams participating teams must:

be current members of the U.S. Drone Soccer Association
receive an invitation to participate in the event
have current team member AMA numbers on file
register for the District Championship as instructed by the Association
be prepared for the newly assessed USDSA district championship event fee or qualify & request a financial hardship waiver
be prepared to receive an invitation to the National Championship if they qualify from District Championship play – plan ahead!
